Accessibility
Draft — pending legal review
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That goes beyond the WCAG 2.0 AA standard set by Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). We also aim to serve everyone who contacts us in a way that respects their dignity and independence.
What we’ve done
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a “Skip to content” link and a clear focus outline.
- Pages are built with proper headings, labels and landmarks so screen readers can find their way around.
- Text and controls are designed to meet AA colour contrast, and nothing relies on colour alone.
- Pages work at 200% zoom, and are designed for small phones.
- Animations are turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Form errors say what went wrong and how to fix it, right next to the field.
- Pages are small and fast, for rural and mobile connections.
Our last check, on October 23, 2026, used automated tools (axe and Lighthouse) and keyboard testing on our public pages and sign-in screens. It found no automated failures, and a few problems we’re fixing, listed below.
Known limits
- On some pages, an item you move to with the keyboard can end up hidden behind the bar at the top of the screen or the “Apply now” bar on phones. Scrolling a little will show it.
- On very narrow phone screens (320 pixels wide), a few pages and forms can scroll sideways slightly.
- On some phones, the short text over the photo at the top of a page can be harder to read than it should be.
- Our spam check on forms (Cloudflare Turnstile) is usually invisible. If it ever asks you to do something you can’t, email us and we’ll help.
- Jobs collected from other sites send you to the employer’s own site to apply. We can’t control how accessible those sites are.
- Resumes and job descriptions are written by people, and may not always be in plain language.
